This isolation serum DHT (dihydrotestosterone) test measures levels of DHT, a potent androgen derived from testosterone. It is used to evaluate conditions related to androgen activity, such as hair loss (androgenic alopecia), prostate health issues, or hormonal imbalances in both men and women. The test can also help assess the effectiveness of treatments like 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (e.g., finasteride), which lower DHT levels. It provides insight into androgen-related conditions that testosterone levels alone may not reveal. However, keep in mind serum DHT alone may not reflect the full picture. This test includes:
