The Iron and TIBC (Total Iron Binding Capacity) test evaluates iron levels and the blood’s ability to transport and bind iron. It is used to help diagnose and monitor conditions like iron deficiency anemia, iron overload disorders (e.g., hemochromatosis), or other issues affecting iron metabolism. The TIBC test helps assess transferrin levels, which indicate how well your body is transporting iron. Together, these tests provide a clearer picture of iron balance and storage in the body.

Calorie-fasting is recommended, 8-12 hours prior. (Still hydrate with water.)

After order completion, a provider will submit your Lab Requisition Form to Labcorp, within 24 (business) hours. You will also be emailed a copy of your LRF to take to your nearest Labcorp with valid photo ID. Your results will be available in your Labcorp Patient Portal as soon as they become available, and we will securely email you a PDF copy.
