The Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test measures the level of PSA, a protein produced by the prostate gland, in the blood. It is primarily used to screen for and monitor prostate cancer, as elevated levels may indicate cancer, an enlarged prostate (BPH), or prostate inflammation (prostatitis). The test helps detect prostate issues early, even before symptoms appear, and monitor treatment effectiveness in those diagnosed with prostate conditions. Elevated PSA levels don’t always mean cancer, so further evaluation is often needed. Fasting is not required for this lab.

After order completion, a provider will submit your Lab Requisition Form to Labcorp, within 24 (business) hours. You will also be emailed a copy of your LRF to take to your nearest Labcorp with valid photo ID. Your results will be available in your Labcorp Patient Portal as soon as they become available, and we will securely email you a PDF copy.
