This Apolipoprotein Assessment (Apo A1, Apo B, and Apo B/A1 Ratio) evaluates levels of two key apolipoproteins involved in cholesterol transport: Apo A1, associated with “good” HDL cholesterol, and Apo B, linked to “bad” LDL cholesterol. The test helps assess cardiovascular risk more accurately than traditional cholesterol tests by analyzing the balance of lipoproteins in the blood. A high Apo B/A1 ratio can indicate increased cardiovascular risk, while a lower ratio may suggest better heart health. This test is different from a traditional LDL/HDL cholesterol test because it directly measures the proteins (Apo A1 and Apo B) that carry cholesterol, providing a more precise assessment of cardiovascular risk.

Apolipoprotein Assessment includes:

• Apolipoprotein A1 (Apo A1)

• Apolipoprotein B (Apo B)

• Apo B / Apo A1 Ratio

Fasting is not required, but it may be recommended if the test is part of a broader lipid panel or if triglycerides are being measured simultaneously.
