The ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) blood test measures how quickly red blood cells settle at the bottom of a test tube over an hour. It helps detect inflammation in the body, which may indicate conditions like infections, autoimmune diseases, or cancer. While not specific, it is often used alongside other tests to monitor or diagnose inflammatory processes. Fasting is not required for this lab.

After order completion, a provider will submit your Lab Requisition Form to Labcorp, within 24 (business) hours. You will also be emailed a copy of your LRF to take to your nearest Labcorp with valid photo ID.
