This isolation test checks the level of IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) in your blood. IGF-1 is a hormone that acts as a chemical messenger, regulating the activity of certain cells and organs. It works closely with growth hormone (GH) to support the normal growth and development of bones and tissues. While GH levels fluctuate during the day based on factors like diet and activity, IGF-1 levels remain more constant. Therefore, measuring IGF-1 provides a more reliable way to assess GH activity in the body. This test does not need to be performed fasted.
