This test measures the level of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in your blood, which is produced by the pituitary gland to regulate thyroid hormone production. Assessing TSH provides key insight into how well the thyroid and pituitary glands are communicating and maintaining hormonal balance. It is often used as an initial screening test to evaluate overall thyroid function. Fasting is not required for this test.
